Hotel Corfu Chandris, Corfu Greece
17 September - 1 October 2012

View of CorfuKnown as the Emerald Island, Corfu has a long-standing tradition of welcoming the British. In fact the British were the only conquerors who left voluntarily and they’ve been coming back ever since!

The island, the most northerly of the Ionian group, is one of the most verdant in the Mediterranean, a rich tapestry of flower-covered mountains, wooded hillsides and pastel-shaded villages.

Corfu was the first stop on the trade routes from the foot of Italy to the East and has been conquered by every power that dominated the Mediterranean.

The Venetians built the tall shuttered houses that border the narrow streets of Corfu Town during their occupation from 1386 to 1797, and the French added the Liston Arcade in the 19th century.

The island is still linked to Italy by the ferry from the Italian port of Brindisi - many tourists en route to the Greek mainland step ashore here and get no further, lured by the beautiful beach-lined coast and the offshore islets.

Just ten minutes drive to the north of Corfu Town, Dassia is a relatively busy “one road” resort set in a wooded area with low lying hills around. There are many bars and tavernas to choose from, as well as a selection of shops. Just a few minutes walk away from the main road you can reach a quiet village area which takes you backto “the real Greece”.

The Hotel Corfu Chandris

The Corfu Chandris Hotel is set right by the sea amidst extensive beautiful gardens and is just a short ride from Corfu Town on the complimentary hotel shuttle service.

Hotel PoolThe hotel has two large outdoor swimming pools in its gardens as well as a delightful pine-fringed beach. It has its own self-service taverna right by the sea, offering a wide selection of lunchtime snacks.

The hotel offers excellent facilities; three tennis courts, table tennis, watersports, well-equipped fitness room, two shops, hairdresser, 24-hour reception, bar, & lounge area.

All double rooms have private bathroom with hairdryer, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, safety deposit box, air conditioning, balcony or terrace, full or side sea view. The restaurant serves buffet style meals.

The Weather

The average maximum temperature in Corfu in September is a wonderfully warm 28˚, compared to 18˚ in London.

Our Opinion

Bays on CorfuCorfu is probably the greenest and most beautiful of all the larger Greek islands with many interesting bays and countryside to visit.

Corfu Town rivals Rhodes in its attractiveness. Our six previous groups which have stayed at the hotel were full of praise for all aspects, especially the beautifully laid out gardens and the food, both in the restaurant and in the hotel’s own taverna.

The only minus is that the majority of the shops and restaurants in the resort are on a fairly busy road, but rest assured that all the hotel rooms face in the opposite direction and so are free of traffic noise.
