Arthur & Nicki Thomasson
Arthur and Nicki have been married for over 40 years and played Bridge, after a fashion, for most of those, often nearly resulting in divorce proceedings!
Arthur and Nicki have been married for over 40 years and played Bridge, after a fashion, for most of those, often nearly resulting in divorce proceedings!
They have two children and five grandchildren, so spend quite a bit of time travelling up and down the A1, M1 to visit them.
Arthur was an engineer by profession but moved on to be a technical director. Later he found himself working for the local college as an NVQ teacher which, to his surprise, he enjoyed.
He plays golf and after many years of practise has slithered to a handicap of 18. He says that Nicki is his main handicap when playing Bridge! DIY is another skill and he is often called upon, by single ladies, to deal with their plumbing problems!
Nicki has had a varied teaching career covering all ages and abilities. She spent a lot of time organising Special Needs departments in main stream schools. Her final job was deputy head in a local primary school (on the wrong side of the tracks) where she said a sense of humour was a must.
Now she has finally retired, she is enjoying being a lady who lunches with a bit of culture thrown in. She aims to resume her piano playing so that she can compete with the grandchildren.
Arthur and Nicki both enjoy their involvement with Diamond Bridge where they  have the opportunity to meet and socialise with a large variety of people who share a common interest.
